Is it time to disband the Indian Administrative Service(IAS)?
Please respond with an open mind....I feel this cadre still carries the poison of an imperial powers' need for a steel frame of administration in an alien land where their own countrymen(british) were vastly outnumbered....
This cadre does not serve the needs of a vibrant democracy...it actually represents the rotten core of the government's delivery machinery...they dodge and block all initiatives, they have created a super brahmin caste of their own kind and possess mighty egos...all based on one silly little theory exam that they have managed to out compete others in....and then enjoy full job security complete with power, perks, promotions with no accountability for the rest of their working life...
They possess no management skills needed to facilitate a market economy...their obsolete training materials in their Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy in Mussoories still teach them the virtues of centralized planning, socialism and marxism...
They weave complex webs of illogic around our dumb politicians who are nominally their bosses and manage to play the role of real powers behind the thrones...
Time to dump these dinosaurs...South Korea and Taiwan have no IAS and were as poor as India in 1947...now they 20 times richer...even traitors trained by Pakistan could not have achieved so much in such a short period of time...
