Why Child Labor needs to be made compulsory...many people think we need to stop it...I fundamentally propose something opposite...

Before we can stop a practice, we need to ask what is wrong with it....a child or for that matter anyone physically working is somehow seen as something bad....I am not too sure...work is worship and the earlier people start to do physical work the better they will respect others who work..

In India manual labor by anyone is looked down upon...if a fat housewife does her own cleaning, other fat neighbors' wives stop socializing with her.. I heard one local politician in Delhi justifying encroachments of public land by slum dwellers as they provide shelter to domestic help....I am sure he had the welfare of his fat lazy wife at heart and was willing to overturn the law for her comfort...

Physical work can be a source of great fulfillment...instead of avoiding physical chores, we must make it an acceptable norm and look down upon people who delegate or pay others for their physical work...A fat housewife wants domestic help so that she can be free to gossip and backbite others and spread slander in her neighborhood...she thus risks her own physical health too...

What is wrong with child labor is not the fact that children doing work is bad but the fact that it prevents people from doing manual labor and building a culture of labor avoidance....Government babus still are entitled to a retinue of staff at their tax payer funded bungalows...there will be a mali, a chowkidar, a dhobi, a cook....a feudal culture strengthened and legitimized by the British....not only these chaps thus avoid all physical work, they even propagate an aspirational life style for impressionable young minds....

In fact I would go a step further...we must make a stint of child labor compulsory especially for rich kids...they need to work as domestic helps to understand the divinity of work...

I know of one famous industrialists, one of the top business families of India who made it compulsory for his children to work in factories as incognito workers and travel by crowded public transport to get a true feel for life....but that is too late...children must start even earlier than that to really internalize and remember throughout their lives...a different value system is what is needed in this land of nauseating hypocrisy...
